A non-human lecture performance about people, animals and an experiment that never took place in real life. Until today: the audience enters the theater and finds itself in a bizarre TED talk. The presenter is a strange-looking creature sitting on a box. The subject of the presentation is the animal from the famous theoretical experiment in quantum physics: Schrödinger's cat. In it, Schrödinger describes how a cat sits in a box with a bottle containing a poison that has a certain probability of being released, which would result in the cat dying. Schrödinger claims that as long as the box is not opened, the cat is both alive and dead at the same time.
The creature giving the lecture is actually the cat from Schrödinger's experiment - Mitzi. Caught between life and death and full of rage at the scientist, Mitzi tells the audience her true plan for the evening. But Mitzi isn't just organizing this evening to get revenge on Schrödinger... The real experiment can finally begin, and there is no escape from it.
Ariel Doron, puppeteer and director, asks big questions: When does the oppressed become the oppressor? How do we, as outsiders, decide which side we support? And does our point of view change when we ourselves are forced into the situation? Doron explores the relationship between puppet and puppeteer as a power play, the relationship between audience and stage and that of observer and observed. Is reality in the theater "real"? Live? Recorded net? Do you know what is happening inside without looking in? If you look inside, can you see the whole story? And what is happening outside the theater box at that moment? Is there an outside world? Are we all dead? Are we alive? Can we be both at the same time?
Ariel Doron works with theaters such as the Elbphilharmonie, the Schauburg Munich, the TJG Dresden, the Maxim Gorki etc. and directs there. He also teaches and gives master classes for students, including at the HDMK Stuttgart.
