In a world of genetic engineering, AI and robotics, the topic of doppelgangers is not far away. Some of our contemporaries are already known to be on the move in duplicate. Ideas collide: On the one hand, the battle for uniqueness is raging, but at the same time there is the dream of making the world happy by multiplying. In "REPLIK:A", a person moves into an eerie valley populated by dolls, avatars and a robotic humanoid, all doppelgangers of the courageous protagonist. Disturbed and fascinated at the same time, he dares to take a look behind the mirror, at the back of himself, in order to learn to fear at the sight of his shadow, his other self, his dark twin. The dancer Ludger Lamers encounters himself not only in an android, but also in the movements of a curtain, in a three-dimensional computer graphic or a fools figure consisting only of a head and a stic

MEINHARDT & KRAUSS have been the puppeteer/director Iris Meinhardt, the director/video artist Michael Krauss and the composer/musician Thorsten Meinhardt since 2003. The Stuttgartter's plays thrive on the intensive exchange between puppet theater, film, new media and contemporary music. They virtuously fuse high-tech and poetry, virtuality and the body to create their own theatrical language, which, with a vital sense of the surreal, invites us to believe that the seemingly unreal is real. For their 20th birthday, they ask what people need to form an image of themselves.
